Brooklands Trust Ltd. is established and owned by Dutch born entrepreneur Markwin Maring. Because his holding company is in Switzerland, Maring aimed to got the Swiss nationality. Due to the fact that it is required to live in Switzerland for various years before it is possible to obtain for a Swiss passport, this option did not work. Other jurisdictions often have the requirement that you have to stay in the country for 180 days or more in a year, which was also not an option. Maring looked for a country with a nice climate, a safe and stable community which offers flexibility and good flight connections with the USA and Europe. After an extensive search he selected Antigua and obtained for the Antigua & Barbuda nationality by investing in a government approved real-estate project, as part of the Citizenship by Investment program.

Maring knows the West Indies for decades, which are great. Antigua & Barbuda, as a since 1981 independent country in the British Commonwealth, offers stability and an excellent legal framework in combination with favorable (tax) terms and regulations for its citizens and businesses. Antigua has the right size, a modern airport with 15 airlines, including direct flights from Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Delta, American Airlines, Air Canada and Winair (for connections with London, New York, St Martin, St. Barth and many other Caribbean islands).

Maring has found peace of mind at Antigua, no wars, no fundamentalists, no left or right wing extremists, far enough above sea-level to conquer with all climate changes, very friendly people and community, 365 most stunning coral sand beaches, all water sports available, perfect wheater and far away from the European Community which is - to the personal opinion of Maring - not sustainable as a long term concept like it operates today. It is very sad to conclude but Europe has a beautiful future behind.
